Penrite Oil

The Challenge:

Penrite Oil faced a space shortage within their warehouse as the existing areas allocated for production and staff were required to be converted for bulk storage. The lack of dedicated office space created challenges in accommodating employees, while also raising safety concerns due to the proximity of staff to flammable materials stored in the warehouse. A solution was needed to create a safe, functional, and compliant workspace for the team without compromising the operational requirements for storage.

The Solution:

Heighton conducted a thorough assessment and identified an area outside the main building that could be extended and converted into a new office space. The extension plan involved constructing a standalone office area designed to comfortably accommodate 8-10 staff members. The new office was purpose-built to address specific needs, including noise suppression for a quieter work environment and safety measures to ensure the office remained a safe distance from the bunded warehouse, where flammable materials were stored. This strategic approach allowed Penrite Oil to optimize the use of the existing warehouse space for bulk storage while providing a secure, dedicated workspace for its staff, separate from the potential hazards of the warehouse environment.

The Outcome

The newly constructed office space has successfully met Penrite Oil's requirements for a safer and more efficient working environment. The separate office area offers noise suppression, improving the quality of the workspace, and is located at a safe distance from the warehouse's flammable materials. This separation not only enhances safety but also aligns with compliance standards for storing hazardous substances. With the additional space and improved layout, Penrite Oil is better positioned to support both current operations and future growth.
