Cabinets Online
The Challenge:
Cabinets Online had been operating in the same facility for many years. As the company experienced continued growth, it ran out of space for assembling cabinets prior to delivery. The limited assembly area not only created operational bottlenecks but also negatively affected quality control, leading to potential issues with product quality and customer satisfaction. A solution was urgently needed to expand the assembly capacity and improve the workflow to meet increasing demand without compromising on quality.
The Solution:
Heighton developed a solution to maximise the use of the existing space by constructing a mezzanine floor above the current assembly bays. This new level provided additional workspace and helped alleviate the space constraints on the main floor. To further enhance the workflow, a goods hoist system was installed, allowing trolleys loaded with assembled cabinets to be easily transferred to the first-floor mezzanine. This upper level was designated for quality assurance checks and finishing touches, creating a dedicated area for final inspections and improvements before the cabinets were prepared for delivery. By reorganizing the facility layout and adding vertical capacity, the solution not only addressed the immediate space challenges but also streamlined the assembly and quality assurance processes.
The Outcome
The implementation of the mezzanine floor and goods hoist system has enabled Cabinets Online to significantly improve its operations. The company now delivers cabinets ahead of schedule and with a defect-free guarantee, thanks to the dedicated quality assurance area. The increased assembly space has also allowed for a higher production output, enabling Cabinets Online to keep up with growing demand while maintaining the high standards of quality that customers expect. This project has positioned the company to sustain growth and enhanced customer satisfaction.
