Fresh To Go Foods

Fresh To Go Foods, one of Australia’s largest sandwich producers, required a complete facility relocation from Mascot to Regent’s Park.

Project Background

With rapidly growing demand for its products, Fresh To Go Foods needed more than just a change of address — they needed a purpose-built, future-proof facility designed to support high-volume production and strict cold-chain standards.

The brief called for a full turnkey fit-out of the new site. This included temperature-controlled environments for cold and freezer storage, a streamlined sandwich assembly line, cold packing rooms, dedicated spaces for vegetable and protein handling, a decant room, general warehouse space, dual loading docks, a loadout area, and compact operational offices.

Crucially, the project was driven by a hard lease handover deadline at the Mascot facility. Delays weren’t an option. Every element — from design and compliance through to final commissioning — needed to be tightly managed on a compressed timeline.

The Challenge

Time pressure was the dominant factor, with the relocation required to be completed before Fresh To Go’s existing lease expired. This placed immense importance on coordinating every stage of the project — early-stage planning, CDC/DA approvals, and on-site construction — with minimal margin for error.

During excavation, asbestos was unexpectedly discovered, triggering immediate remediation requirements. Simultaneously, the team faced complications around trade waste design and drainage approvals, both of which had the potential to derail the schedule.

Fast, informed decision-making and proactive stakeholder engagement became critical. The fit-out team worked closely with local authorities, consultants, and Fresh To Go Foods operational leaders to manage these challenges head-on without compromising safety, hygiene standards, or delivery dates.

The Results

The project was delivered on time and fully operational by the lease handover deadline — with zero disruption to Fresh To Go Foods production schedule.

The new Regent’s Park facility is double the size of the former Mascot site, providing the scale and flexibility needed to meet current demand and support future growth. Production output has increased, workflows have been optimised, and the site now operates with improved efficiency across all zones — from receiving and storage to assembly, packing, and dispatch.

Fresh To Go Foods now runs its operations from a modern, food-safe facility built to sustain high performance for the decade ahead.
